#arkeisios

• Arcesius — The Latinized name of Arcesius (or Arkeisios), a character in Greek mythology, king of Ithaca, son of Zeus (or Cephalus, according to other traditions) and the paternal grandfather of the hero Odysseus (Ulysses). In Homeric genealogy, it represents a crucial structural link proving the direct divine descent of the ruling dynasty of Ithaca, his name being symbolic of early royal authority and celestial protection.
