• Large-winged — Having large, unusual, highly developed, or disproportionate wings relative to the body; an adjective used to emphasize the abundance, width, or tattered and spectacular appearance of a bird's or insect's wings. In a figurative sense, the term can describe an object (such as a cloak or a sailing vessel) whose lateral elements flutter freely in the wind, creating the visual illusion of a heavy flight.
