• Tanning craft — The craft, traditional technique, or practical occupation of tanning and processing raw hides; also, the workshop, manufactory, or designated space where a master tanner (argăsitor) prepares, cleans, and treats animal skins. In a structural-economic sense, argăsitoria represented an essential branch of medieval urban guilds, responsible for the production of raw materials for furriers, shoemakers, and harness makers.
