#areolar
- Areolar — Belonging or relating to an areola, or exhibiting small structural spaces, networks, or cavities. In anatomy and histology, the term is fundamentally utilized to describe loose (areolar) connective tissue, characterized by a structural mesh of elastic and collagen fibers leaving open spaces between them, playing an essential role in supporting organs, binding skin to underlying muscles, and allowing nutrient diffusion.
- Areoliform — Having the shape of an areola; an anatomical, dermatological, or botanical structure configured in the form of a small circle, a colored ring, or a distinct circular zone. In medicine, it describes cutaneous lesions or inflammatory spots arranged concentrically around a central point, while in botany it refers to round spots or specific markings on the surface of plant organs.
- Areolitis — An extremely rare medical term used in the past or in specific specialized clinical nomenclatures to designate inflammation of the breast areolar tissue or the circular zone surrounding the nipple. Structurally, it represents a localized form of superficial dermo-hypodermatitis that can secondarily extend toward the mammary gland.
