• Arefu — A village and commune in Argeș county, Romania, structurally located within the high mountainous zone of the Getic Subcarpathians along the Argeș river valley. The locality is of major historical and tourist importance, encompassing within its administrative territory the Vidraru Dam, the Argeș Gorges, Poenari Citadel (historically associated with Vlad the Impaler), and the southern starting sector of the famous Transfăgărășan alpine highway.
