#arcos
- Arcos — A scientific term or combining form derived from the Greek 'arkos' or Latin 'arcus' (arc, curve), rarely used in structural technical terminology to describe objects, geological formations, or mathematical curves that exhibit an arched or vaulted geometry. It can also make a historical reference to famous commercial companies or international administrative acronyms (such as the Soviet trading company ARCOS in the 1920s).
- Arcosolium — An arched burial niche carved directly into the rock wall of early Christian catacombs or ancient tombs, located above a flat grave covered by a horizontal slab. In a structural-architectural sense, the arcosolium served both a decorative role, often acting as a surface for fresco paintings with allegorical Early Christian motifs, and a structural load-bearing role for the vault, typically reserved for high-ranking figures or martyrs.
