• Apuli — An ancient Dacian population inhabiting central Transylvania, around the political and religious center of Apulum (modern-day Alba Iulia); these Dacians were mentioned in ancient sources (such as Ptolemy's maps) as a powerful tribe skilled in mining, metallurgy, and the extraction of gold and salt deposits.
• Apulum — The largest urban, political, and military center in Roman Dacia, developed on the site of modern-day Alba Iulia; the settlement was initially a castrum built by the 13th Legion Gemina, structurally evolving into two distinct cities (Municipium Apulense and Colonia Aurelia Apulensis) and becoming the residence of the governor of Dacia Apulensis province.
