• Apiole — An organic chemical compound, occurring as an oily liquid or crystalline substance, extracted primarily from the seeds and leaves of parsley (Petroselinum crispum) or celery (Apium graveolens). Historically known as parsley camphor, this phenylpropanoid derivative possesses strong antipyretic and emmenagogue properties, used in the past in strictly controlled doses in traditional medicine, but exhibits high hepatic and renal toxicity in case of overdose.
