#antiphates

• Antiphates — A proper name of Greek mythological origin, representing the legendary king of the giant, anthropophagous Laestrygonian tribe in the Odyssey; also, in a modern taxonomic sense, the structural term defines a species of tropical butterflies or other zoological organisms named in memory of this epic character. This dual use links ancient literature with precision scientific nomenclature.
