In agricultural sciences and zootechnics, it denotes the complex of genetic and technical methods systematically applied to create or perfect plant varieties and animal breeds with increased productivity.
- Amelioration — An obsolete, archaic, or bookish form for 'ameliorare' (improvement); designates the act of bringing a system, real estate property, contract, or social condition to a qualitatively superior state. In the legal and notarial language of the 19th and early 20th centuries, the term described clauses regarding investments made by a tenant or concessionaire to increase the value of a leased property.
