- Alem-topped — Having been equipped, adorned, crowned, or structurally marked at the peak with an alem (an ornamental metal finial shaped like a crescent, spear, or sphere). In descriptions of historical architecture or Balkan archaeology, the term describes the final state of a minaret, a mosque dome, or an Ottoman military mast after the official mounting of the heraldic symbol.
