#alamire

• Brass-plating — The act of brass-plating and its result; a technological process of coating the surface of a metallic object (usually made of steel, iron, or cast iron) with a thin, uniform, and adherent layer of brass. This treatment is carried out through electrolytic (electroplating) or thermal methods, aiming to protect the base material against corrosion and to give it a distinct aesthetic appearance similar to gold.
• Brass-plating — A regional phonetic variant or secondary technical form for 'alămire'; the act of brass-plating and its result, consisting of the crafting or industrial process of coating a steel, iron, or cast-iron object with a thin, uniform layer of brass to ensure anti-corrosive protection and a yellow-golden aesthetic finish. In certain southern dialectal contexts, the term can also represent an action metaphorically derived from the verb 'a lămâi', referring to the souring of a dish.
