#adjusting tool
- Adjusting fixture — A manual tool, auxiliary device, or special workbench used in the past in fine mechanics, locksmithing, or carpentry workshops to secure, support, or guide workpieces during adjusting, filing, or dimensional finishing operations; by extension (rare), the term can designate a female worker employed as an adjuster or assistant in the fitting and calibration process of metallic or textile subassemblies in a factory. This element reflects the transitional industrial technical terminology from the beginning of the last century.
