• Adaxial — Facing toward the axis, located in the direction of the axis, or oriented toward the upper surface of a plant organ (such as the upper or inner surface of a leaf, situated closest to the plant stem). In botanical morphology, the term describes the structural polarity of organs during their developmental phase, being the opposite of 'abaxial'.
