#acanthophagous

• Acanthophagous — An ecological and zoological term used as an adjective to describe an animal organism that feeds predominantly or exclusively on spiny plants, thistles, or cacti (such as certain camel species, desert rodents, or specialized phytophagous insects). As a masculine noun, it defines a specimen or species anatomically and physiologically adapted to this restrictive trophic regimen, typically featuring a keratinized oral mucosa immune to pricks and a digestive system capable of neutralizing or grinding rigid spines.
