- Aristodemus — The name of several historical and mythological figures from Ancient Greece. The most famous is Aristodemus of Sparta, one of the two Spartan warriors who survived the Battle of Thermopylae (480 BCE); initially branded a coward, he redeemed himself through exceptional heroism at the Battle of Plataea. In mythology, Aristodemus was a Heraclid, son of Aristomachus, killed by a thunderbolt before the Dorians invaded the Peloponnese.
