#Great Upheaval
- Acadian — As a noun, it denotes a descendant of the French colonists who settled during the 17th century in the region of Acadia (located in northeastern North America, today comprising Canada's Maritime provinces). As an adjective, the term refers to the culture, language, history, or territory specific to this francophone population, renowned for its cultural resilience and the historical tragedy of the Great Upheaval of 1755. Deported Acadian communities in the southern United States laid the foundations for the distinct culture known today as 'Cajun'.
