#Agrigentum

• Acron — A proper name of Greek origin borne by historical or mythological figures, the most notable being Acron of Agrigentum (a 5th-century BC physician-philosopher, contemporary with Empedocles, recognized for his empirical contributions in combating the plague of Athens). In geography, the term can describe a high topographical feature or an ancient city, preserving the Greek structural meaning of prominence or extremity.
• Agrigento — A city and commune on the southern coast of Sicily, Italy, and the capital of the province of the same name. The locality is globally renowned for its neighboring archaeological site called the Valley of the Temples (Valle dei Templi), a structural assembly of exceptionally preserved Doric Greek temples listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
