#Acra fortress
- Akra — A proper noun designating a famous 2nd-century BC ancient fortress built in Jerusalem by Antiochus IV Epiphanes, serving as a structural Syrian military outpost; it also represents a remarkable underwater archaeological site (sunken ancient city) located in Crimea, on the coast of the Kerch Strait, belonging to the former Bosporan Kingdom. In geography, it is also the name of a peninsula or rocky cape in the Black Sea, this toponymic hub reflecting, through its Greek root (akra - summit, promontory), the high defensive or geographical positioning of ancient settlements.
